Tom Hancock Retirement

4 Feb 2019

Tom Hancock OAM, Life Member of Ivanhoe Harriers, announced his retirement from Shield competition on Saturday, 2nd February 2019, at Knox.

Tom hastened to add that he intends to continue with coaching and will compete in the Masters while he is still competitive.

Tom, now aged 82, first competed for the club 55 years ago when he joined in 1964. Before that he was a successful competitor with Melbourne High School Old Boys since 1952.

Tom was a very worthy recipient of an OAM in last year's Australia Day Awards for service to athletics.

Congratulations Tom, from all at the Club, a wonderful career and massive contribution to athletics, in particular to throwing. We are so pleased that you will continue to coach and pass on your great knowledge into the future.
